Переглядів 6932 роки тому

Ask Frost King: Can I Install a Window Kit on the Outside of My House?
Переглядів 3,6 тис.2 роки тому
Can I install a window kit on the exterior of my house on the outside of the window? The answer is yes, you can install window kits on the exterior of your house, but make sure you use a heavy-duty window kit. A Standard regular edition one will not work for exterior use. The window kit will work outside, but their best overall use is still to be installed on the inside of your house.

Ask Frost King: Do I Need to Wait for the Expanding Foam Tape to Expand?
Переглядів 4,2 тис.2 роки тому
Do I need to wait for the expandable foam tape to fully expand before I install it? No, you don't need to wait for the tape to fully expand before installing it. However, if it does expand, that's not a problem. The tape compresses and expands as needed throughout the entire process. So whether that's thin off the roll or thick and expand it already, you'll be able to still install it and work ...
Ask Frost King: Do I Need All Sides of the Foam Tape Exposed to Air for it to Begin Expanding?
Переглядів 5532 роки тому
Do I need to have all sides of the foam tape exposed to the air for it to begin expanding? The answer is no. As long as the side opposite the adhesive is exposed to air, the product will still expand upwards. The sides can be completely covered in a tight wedge or groove, and you'll still get the benefits of expanding foam.
Ask Frost King: Do I Need to Add Anything to Make The Expanding Foam Tape Start Expanding?
Переглядів 4422 роки тому
Do I need to add or do anything to make the foam tape start expanding? The answer is no, expandable foam tape only requires air to start expanding, so once the plastic has been removed, you'll start to see the tape grow right in front of your eyes.

Ask Frost King: What Size Heat Cable Kit Should I Buy?
Переглядів 5612 роки тому
How do I know what size heat cable kit to buy for my house? Well, before you go to the store first measure and see how much exposed pipe you have, once you realize how much you have, then decide how much you want to buy. They come in increments of three, six, nine, twelve, and upwards in terms of feet, and you can get as much as you need.
Ask Frost King: What Kind of Tape Should I Use?
Переглядів 2 тис.2 роки тому
What kind of tape can I use to help hold the Heat Tape to the pipes? The most important thing is to not use masking tape. Any high quality electrical tape will work as long as is rated for one hundred and seventy-six degrees at six-inch intervals. Masking tape just won't cut it and is not strong enough for this job.
Ask Frost King: What is the Wattage?

So take your extra cord and install it on the back side of the pipe opposite from where you installed it and run it down the entire length, making sure that they don't criss-cross or touch at any points and you could secure it to the opposite side.

I live in am apartment with metal frame windows. The metal is epoxied over....i cleaned all 4 sides with water/soap, let it dry. I also used alcohol/swab and ran around the sill.....I originally use Duck brand but their tape kept popping off of the metal frame after a few days after installing. So I installed Frost king. It went up with no problem, its the end of season getting the tape off was the difficult part. The plastic film came off fine, but it did not take the tape with it. I tried warm soap/water, no good, I trued Goo Gone,,,no good, I truer fingernail polish acetone remover, no good.... The only way I got the tape off and it took time and patience is Gorilla duck tape. I took a piece of it, laid it over a section of the frost king tape, preshed it down and rubbed a few times, let it sit for couple min and then begin pealing, reapplied, pull, reapplied, pull etc....until the tape came off... Maybe frost king you should come up with your own tape removal product...

I have some insulation material.. one side is shiny & the other kinda has a yellow cotton candy like 3 inch soft material. It’s possibly duct insulation. Would this be good for a dog’s house? My neighbors dogs are outdoor only pets & they both suffer in the cold. The owner only provides them with food. Any advice?

In my first Apt. I used rope calk sound the mail slot, in my door. Years later when I moved, I pulled it out, took it with me, now It is filling cracks inbetween the concert blocks that are the foundation for my house! The stuff never gets stiff nor wears out! Question;.... I was told you can't paint over it, because the paint won't stick. If so; would primer solve that?

I feel like this video and many others on the topic are wildly out of touch with the issues home owners are dealing with. Being as this is the manufacturer of the product this video really is sadly comical. Your product does not fit the kerfing on my door. It is not easy, has not taken minutes, and the video demonstrates how out of touch the company is. I'm on my way to return this product because it does not work. I'll avoid all Frost King products in my future DIY projects.

FYI - This product does not fit a Thurma Tru door frame kerf. It is too wide and deep to slide in. It took 2 plus hours, three videos including this one, and pressing the gasket in with a regular screw driver, then a wood block and hammer, and lastly at the recommendation of the final video, a crow bar, to discover the size was the issue. Hope this saves someone some time.
